Upcoming walking tour of Glasgow’s West End Cinemas

As part of the West End Festival, Gordon Barr and Gary Painter of the ScottishCinemas.org website will be leading an afternoon walking tour through Glasgow’s west end, highlighting examples of the full range of cinema architectural history, including converted roller-skating rinks, the earliest purpose-built halls, and the peculiarly Scottish “back court” auditoria.

The walk will highlight cinemas that were, cinemas that are, cinemas that might have been, and will end up in one of the cinemas that  that does still exist – as a bar for some light refreshments!

This will be the second year that they’ve run the walk, tickets for which sold out quickly in 2011.

More details about the walk, and how to book tickets, are available on the West End Festival website, or via email to info@scottishcinemas.org
